What if cleaning out your aging cells could protect your bones — but only if you have enough of them to clean?
Scientists enrolled 60 postmenopausal women in a phase 2 randomized controlled trial and gave them an intermittent course of dasatinib plus quercetin — two drugs that selectively clear senescent cells from the body — over 20 weeks. Before and after treatment, the team measured a panel of bone-resorption markers, a bone-formation marker, and each participant's circulating burden of senescent cells, allowing them to test whether the drug combination worked differently depending on how much senescent-cell load each woman carried going in.
